Description:

We’re hiring a Mail Carrier Trainee for rural routes — perfect for someone who’s responsible, enjoys quiet roads, and wants to bring dependable service to small communities. You’ll begin by learning how mail and packages arrive at the distribution center and are sorted for morning routes. You’ll be trained to load your delivery bag properly, keeping packages protected and organizing mail by building and floor. You’ll be trained to use postal systems to scan, weigh, and label items correctly for local and international destinations. You’ll learn how to scan deliveries, get electronic signatures, and mark successful drop-offs using a handheld device. You’ll be taught how to safely approach homes, manage gated entries, and handle mailboxes of all types. You’ll assist in scanning and logging packages at drop-off and pickup points to keep records accurate and up-to-date. You’ll assist in keeping records of misrouted items, rejected barcodes, and damaged packaging that needs inspection. You’ll be expected to maintain a courteous and professional attitude with residents, shopkeepers, and colleagues.

Basic Qualifications:

• Obtain signatures for certified or insured deliveries and keep accurate delivery records.
• Support a positive image of the postal service through punctuality and professionalism.
• Follow all postal regulations, security procedures, and company policies.
• Follow safety protocols, especially when walking in unfamiliar areas or encountering pets.
• Follow assigned routes efficiently while adapting to detours, traffic, or road conditions.

Preferred:

• Thrives in environments where reliability, routine, and service quality are essential.
• Understands the responsibility of handling sensitive documents and time-critical deliveries.
• Able to maintain accuracy when delivering letters, parcels, registered mail, or certified items requiring signatures.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record if operating a delivery vehicle is required.
• Familiar with scanning packages, updating tracking info, or recording delivery confirmations using handheld devices.
