Description:
We’re hiring an Online Chat Moderator who knows how to keep digital spaces respectful, positive, and on-brand. You’ll be responsible for monitoring real-time chats, identifying violations, and stepping in when things go off track — all while making sure users feel welcome and respected. Your job isn’t just to silence negativity — it’s to help foster a space where real conversations can happen. You should have excellent judgment, the ability to remain neutral, and a knack for diffusing conflict with tact and clarity. Your day might involve answering repetitive questions, muting disruptive users, or quietly stepping in to stop a flame war before it starts. You’ll use tools like bans, flags, and filters effectively, but you’ll also rely on intuition and experience to make judgment calls when situations are nuanced.
Basic Qualifications:
- Rotate between active chat moderation and reviewing logs/reports to ensure thoroughness.
- Maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive issues like harassment or user reports.
- Keep detailed logs of incidents, bans, or flagged users for transparency and reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with other moderators to provide around-the-clock coverage in different time zones.
- Encourage meaningful engagement by asking light questions or pointing users toward helpful content.
Preferred:
- Comfortable with online communities, social media platforms, or forum-style chats.
- Willingness to learn moderation tools, guidelines, and escalation procedures.
- Excited to contribute to a positive, well-moderated online environment.
- Has participated in online chats, Discord servers, or forums.
- Enjoys helping others, resolving misunderstandings, and promoting positive interaction.
Benefits:
- You’ll help keep digital spaces safe, inclusive, and (mostly) drama-free.
- You’ll be in the loop on platform updates, not left guessing.
- We celebrate mod wins — fastest mute, best comeback, most calming response.
- We rotate between calm and spicy shifts to keep things fresh.
- No yelling bosses, just calm team leads who’ve modded their way up too.
We value moderators who can be firm without being cold, friendly without being overly casual, and consistent without being robotic. You’ll need to multitask between conversations, use moderation tools efficiently, and maintain a strong understanding of our brand voice and community values. You’ll collaborate with the support team to report recurring issues, flag problematic patterns, and suggest ways to improve the overall user experience. If not, but you’ve spent time in digital communities and understand what good moderation feels like, we still want to hear from you. If you’ve ever thought, “This space could be better if someone just stepped in,” this is your moment to be that someone.
