Description:

We’re hiring a Seamstress Trainee to support garment production in our sewing factory — perfect for someone who enjoys repetition, structure, and building real technical skill in a team setting. You’ll assist in sewing, altering, and prepping costumes for stage, film, or television productions under the guidance of experienced costume designers. You’ll assist in steaming gowns, pinning trains, and prepping dresses for fittings or hand detailing. You’ll be trained to sew by hand and by machine, reinforcing seams, adjusting straps, and tailoring bodices for a flawless fit. You’ll learn how to reinforce seams, add hidden snaps or Velcro for stage changes, and hem garments to suit choreography or blocking. You’ll learn to press and steam garments properly after alterations so they look ready-to-wear when returned to customers. You’ll assist with hand-sewing tasks like closing linings, adding buttons, or finishing delicate edges. You’ll learn how to follow tech packs, production charts, and standard sizing templates for uniform results. You’ll help organize threads, fabrics, trims, and fasteners to keep the workspace clean and efficient.

Basic Qualifications:

• Track orders, manage deadlines, and keep detailed notes for each customer or project.
• Handle rush orders or last-minute changes with calmness and problem-solving skills.
• Follow patterns or design sketches to create new clothing items or custom pieces.
• Inspect garments for flaws, inconsistencies, or damage before and after alterations.
• Communicate clearly with clients about alteration timelines, design requests, and garment care.

Preferred:

• Familiar with cutting fabric efficiently to reduce waste and maintain pattern integrity.
• Pays close attention to fabric type, thread color, tension settings, and finishing quality.
• Experience sewing garments, home textiles, or accessories either by hand or using industrial sewing machines.
• Willing to assist in pressing, steaming, and final presentation of finished pieces.
• Able to read patterns, take accurate body measurements, and follow detailed sewing instructions.
