Description:
We’re hiring a CNC Machine Operator Trainee for our night shift — someone who’s ready to learn, stay focused, and take real responsibility even when the shop is quiet. You don’t need experience yet, but you do need the mindset of someone who wants to grow in a high-tech manufacturing environment. You’ll be trained by day-shift machinists first, learning the machines, safety procedures, and how to run production step by step. You’ll learn how to prepare the machine for production: zeroing axes, setting work offsets, loading tool libraries, and confirming safety protocols step by step. You’ll learn how to read tolerances, measure finished parts with calipers and micrometers, and know when something is slightly off before it becomes a defect. You’ll be taught how to monitor feed rates, recognize the sound of a happy spindle, and stop production the moment something feels wrong. You’ll assist in preparing tools, changing inserts, cleaning chips, and keeping the work area safe, tidy, and ready for production. You’ll get comfortable navigating CNC control panels — not just pushing buttons, but understanding what each one does and why. You’ll learn why precision starts before the cycle runs — from coolant flow to machine warmup, from zero offsets to tool height settings.
Basic Qualifications:
- Work independently or as part of a production team, meeting output targets while maintaining attention to detail.
- Set up and operate CNC machines such as mills, lathes, or routers to produce parts according to technical drawings or blueprints.
- Train or assist junior operators when needed—sharing best practices and helping them build foundational machining skills.
- Load raw materials into machines, install tooling, and run test cycles to ensure machines are properly calibrated before full production.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD files, and work instructions to understand specifications and machining sequences.
Preferred:
- Experience operating CNC machines such as mills, lathes, or routers in a production environment.
- Organized in managing job orders, material inventory, and scrap tracking.
- Capable of performing routine maintenance such as cleaning machines and checking fluid levels.
- Comfortable using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring instruments to inspect finished parts.
- Comfortable reporting production issues, defects, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
Benefits:
- We celebrate wins, birthdays, and finished batches alike.
- We train and upskill — no experience? No problem, we’ve got your back.
- We don’t expect perfection on day one — we teach, not criticize.
- You’ll be operating top-grade CNC equipment — not museum pieces.
- Earn certifications on the job — and actually use them.
You’ll handle tools that cost hundreds of dollars — and learn how to extend their life, not break them through guesswork. You’ll work closely with engineers, supervisors, and quality control to make sure each piece meets customer and production standards. You’ll be shown how to take pride in a surface finish, how to hear when a tool is dull, and when to say “that’s not within tolerance. m. You’ll discover that this is more than a factory job — it’s a craft, and you’re learning to think in thousandths of an inch. You’ll build confidence slowly and honestly, with real results: tough parts, clean finishes, zero rework. You’ll finish this internship with real hands-on skill, industry vocabulary, and a clear sense of whether this path is truly yours. If you take pride in doing things carefully, learning things properly, and becoming someone others can count on — we’d be proud to train you. ” If you value quiet focus, technical skill, and the satisfaction of solo work done well — we’re ready to train you after dark.
