Description:

We’re hiring a Mail Carrier Trainee who’s ready to learn how to deliver mail efficiently, accurately, and with a friendly attitude — rain or shine. You’ll begin by shadowing experienced carriers on walking, driving, or biking routes, observing how deliveries are organized and prioritized. You’ll be trained to sort letters and parcels by address and delivery order to keep your route smooth and efficient. You’ll help load mail into bags or vehicles, making sure fragile and high-priority items are placed properly. You’ll learn how to read route maps, use postal scanners, and navigate neighborhoods with or without GPS. You’ll be taught how to safely approach homes, manage gated entries, and handle mailboxes of all types. You’ll gain confidence in biking through city traffic, using bike lanes and safe crossing points to stay on route. You’ll help collect outgoing mail from rural homes, pickup boxes, or roadside stands as part of your route. You’ll help handle rerouted mail, forwarding it when needed or returning undeliverables with notes for follow-up.

Basic Qualifications:

• Keep your delivery vehicle clean, fueled, and stocked with supplies like forms and mailbags.
• Handle fragile or high-value items with care and follow special delivery protocols.
• Sort undeliverable mail and return it to the post office with proper documentation.
• Assist with bulk mail pickups or deliveries for local businesses and organizations.
• Report damaged mail, unsafe mailboxes, or unusual activity to supervisors promptly.

Preferred:

• Can quickly learn new routes or adjust to coverage areas when covering other carriers.
• Background or interest in logistics, delivery, or postal services.
• Pays strong attention to addresses, unit numbers, and special delivery instructions.
• Familiar with scanning packages, updating tracking info, or recording delivery confirmations using handheld devices.
• Willing to sort incoming mail in preparation for daily delivery rounds.
