Description:

We’re seeking a Medical Registrar Intern who wants to contribute to patient care by ensuring that all administrative processes run smoothly and professionally. You’ll be one of the first smiles patients see, greeting them with kindness and helping ease any nerves or confusion about their visit. Under supervision, you will assist with accurately entering patient information into the hospital’s electronic record systems. You’ll learn how to keep patient records updated, from appointment history to medical notes, while protecting patient privacy at all times. You’ll help organize patient files, scan important documents, and make sure doctors have what they need before each appointment. You’ll support the scheduling of follow-ups, specialist referrals, and lab visits, always keeping the patient’s time in mind. You’ll answer incoming calls and emails — calmly helping with appointment questions, directions, and reassurance when needed. You’ll be trained to use our healthcare software and shown how to double-check entries for accuracy and completeness. You’ll support our administrative team during peak hours, lending a hand wherever needed to keep things flowing smoothly.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Communicate with patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and prognoses with empathy.
  • Assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures, central lines, or chest drains depending on specialty.
  • Coordinate with allied health professionals—physiotherapists, dietitians, pharmacists—for holistic care.
  • Assess and manage patients in inpatient wards, emergency departments, or specialty clinics.
  • Maintain registration, certifications, and ongoing training as required by regulatory bodies.

Preferred:

  • Familiar with writing accurate patient notes, discharge summaries, and referral letters.
  • Understands ethical responsibilities, informed consent, and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Organized in maintaining patient lists, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring continuity of care.
  • Background or specialization in internal medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, pediatrics, or another hospital-based field.
  • Willing to teach, mentor, and provide feedback to medical students and junior staff.

Benefits:

  • A manager who actually asks how you’re doing (and listens).
  • Training sessions for ongoing growth — from systems to communication.
  • We value calm under pressure — and reward it with real respect.
  • Clear responsibilities — no “do everything because you're at the desk” culture.
  • Uniforms (if required) provided and comfy — no scratchy polyester nonsense.

You will be expected to follow established administrative protocols and report any discrepancies or errors to supervisors promptly. You will learn to navigate high-pressure situations such as peak-hour traffic or emergency department overflow while maintaining professionalism. You’ll observe how healthcare teams communicate across roles — from nurses to doctors to reception — and where the registrar fits in. You will participate in training sessions related to medical administration, system navigation, and internal communication procedures. Your performance will be evaluated regularly to ensure skill development and readiness for increased responsibility. You don’t need to have all the answers on day one — just curiosity, reliability, and the ability to treat every patient with dignity. This internship is suitable for candidates interested in future roles within healthcare administration, hospital coordination, or public health systems. If you’re committed to learning, helping others, and becoming a vital part of a healthcare team, this role is your first step.
