Description:

We’re hiring a Seamstress Trainee to support garment production in our sewing factory — perfect for someone who enjoys repetition, structure, and building real technical skill in a team setting. You’ll begin by learning how to work on an assembly-style production line, focusing on speed, accuracy, and consistency. You’ll assist in sewing specific garment sections such as sleeves, pockets, collars, or waistbands depending on your station. You’ll help pin garments for fitting under supervision, learning how to read body language and measure for comfort as well as fit. You’ll learn how to reinforce seams, add hidden snaps or Velcro for stage changes, and hem garments to suit choreography or blocking. You’ll receive coaching on how to maintain even seam allowances, meet speed goals, and inspect your own work as you go. You’ll support quality control by flagging stitching errors, skipped seams, or material flaws before garments move forward. You’ll assist with distressing or aging garments for realism — sanding, staining, or altering textures to match the director’s vision. You’ll help organize threads, fabrics, trims, and fasteners to keep the workspace clean and efficient.

Basic Qualifications:

• Handle rush orders or last-minute changes with calmness and problem-solving skills.
• Sew, alter, and repair garments by hand or using industrial sewing machines with precision and care.
• Follow patterns or design sketches to create new clothing items or custom pieces.
• Support larger production projects by completing assigned stitching or assembly tasks.
• Communicate clearly with clients about alteration timelines, design requests, and garment care.

Preferred:

• Background or passion in sewing, fashion design, costume production, or textile arts.
• Able to read patterns, take accurate body measurements, and follow detailed sewing instructions.
• Familiar with stitching techniques including hemming, darting, pleating, and zippers.
• Enjoys transforming fabric into functional or decorative clothing pieces.
• Capable of hand-sewing detailed work such as buttons, appliqués, beads, and lace.
