Description:

We’re hiring a Translator Trainee to help with subtitles and video content — no experience required, just good listening skills, language precision, and an eye for timing. You’ll assist in translating interface text: buttons, tooltips, error messages, notifications, and onboarding flows. We’ll teach you how to work with subtitle tools, timecodes, and how to sync lines with tone and pacing. You’ll learn how to work with string tables, keys, and variable-based content like “You have 3 new messages. You’ll help ensure that the translated text feels natural to native speakers while staying true to the original meaning. We’ll show you how to handle placeholders, gender-neutral terms, plural logic, and platform-specific constraints. You’ll get hands-on experience with real projects, adapting content for cultural relevance and user context. Mistakes are part of the learning process — we’ll help you spot them and understand how to refine your work. You’ll join feedback sessions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and learn how language shapes user experience.

Basic Qualifications:

• Manage your time efficiently, especially when switching between languages or topics.
• Use CAT tools (like SDL Trados, MemoQ, or Smartcat) to streamline work and manage glossaries.
• Proofread and self-check translations before delivery to minimize errors.
• Adapt content so it makes cultural and linguistic sense for the target audience—not just a word-for-word swap.
• Communicate with project managers or clients to clarify expectations, nuances, or formatting needs.

Preferred:

• Comfortable working with bilingual spreadsheets, PDF files, or CMS exports and re-imports.
• Values precision, cultural sensitivity, and consistency in every translation project.
• Pays strong attention to detail, especially with formatting, syntax, and linguistic accuracy.
• Able to follow specific client style guides, tone of voice, and branding instructions.
• Can handle confidential or sensitive materials with discretion and professionalism.
