Description:

We’re hiring a Mail Processing Trainee to join our overnight sorting team — ideal for someone who enjoys focused work, quiet environments, and behind-the-scenes logistics. You’ll begin by learning how incoming mail is received, sorted, and prepared for carriers or pickup shelves. You’ll be trained to load your delivery bag properly, keeping packages protected and organizing mail by building and floor. You’ll be trained to use postal systems to scan, weigh, and label items correctly for local and international destinations. You’ll help customers with postage options, tracking questions, and mailing forms — always with a helpful attitude. You’ll learn to recognize repeat recipients and build trust with residents who rely on you for news, medicine, and supplies. You’ll work in a clean, high-paced environment where accuracy and rhythm matter more than speed alone. You’ll learn how to update delivery statuses, log undeliverable items, and notify recipients about missed pickups. You’ll be trained to lift properly, use carts or dollies, and follow safety procedures for repetitive tasks and heavy loads.

Basic Qualifications:

• Report damaged mail, unsafe mailboxes, or unusual activity to supervisors promptly.
• Handle fragile or high-value items with care and follow special delivery protocols.
• Take pride in connecting people and businesses through reliable, day-to-day service.
• Respond politely to customers’ questions or requests about deliveries or postal procedures.
• Follow safety protocols, especially when walking in unfamiliar areas or encountering pets.

• Experience handling physical deliveries, either on foot, by bicycle, or by vehicle, in residential or commercial areas.

• Follows safety procedures when operating a delivery vehicle, walking near roads, or lifting packages.

You’ll assist in filling out rural delivery logs and reporting any issues like blocked roads, aggressive animals, or damaged mailboxes. You’ll be expected to stay focused for long stretches, pacing your energy and checking accuracy throughout the night. ” You’ll learn to communicate clearly with building staff, reception desks, and security checkpoints when entering delivery zones. You’ll assist with closing duties such as counting till drawers, securing outbound mailbags, and locking storage areas. You’ll be mentored on time management, route adjustments, and how to stay organized with a high degree of autonomy. You’ll receive feedback and support throughout your internship to help you grow more confident with each route.
