Description:

We’re looking for a Gardener / Landscaper Trainee — no experience needed, just a willingness to get your hands dirty and learn something real. If you’ve never planted a flower or trimmed a hedge, that’s okay — we’ll teach you from the ground up. We’ll teach you the basics: how to handle tools safely, how to dig without damaging roots, and how to water properly. You’ll begin with tasks like watering, weeding, carrying tools, and helping set up planting beds. You’ll learn to use rakes, hoes, pruning shears, and mowers properly and safely. Expect to spend your days outside — mowing lawns, planting flowers, trimming hedges, and spreading soil or bark. You’ll assist with laying sod, planting trees, building garden beds, and keeping landscapes clean and healthy. We’ll show you how to shape flower beds, edge lawns, and make small spaces feel neat and intentional. Expect early mornings, physical work, and the satisfying rhythm of tasks that grow into results you can see.

Basic Qualifications:

• Keep tools clean, sharp, and properly stored; notify supervisors of damaged or missing equipment.
• Help train junior staff on landscaping techniques, tool safety, and plant care when needed.
• Assist in sourcing and selecting plants, garden materials, and decorative features from local nurseries or suppliers.
• Trim trees, remove dead branches, and support proper tree structure using appropriate pruning methods.
• Install sod, turf, or ground cover and prepare soil by digging, aerating, or grading for optimal growing conditions.

Preferred:

• Familiar with planting, pruning, mowing, weeding, mulching, and seasonal clean-up tasks.
• Background or interest in horticulture, botany, outdoor maintenance, or landscaping design.
• Willing to assist with hardscaping tasks such as laying stones, borders, or light pathway construction.
• Can handle basic maintenance of tools and report damaged equipment or hazards.
