Description:

We’re offering a hands-on trainee position for someone who dreams of becoming a compassionate and capable elementary school teacher. You’ll work side-by-side with seasoned teachers, observing how they spark curiosity, build routines, and create safe, joyful spaces for learning. You’ll shadow experienced teachers, observe their teaching styles, and begin to understand what effective instruction really looks like. You’ll learn to manage energy levels, support different personalities, and adapt when things don’t go as planned — which happens often in education! You’ll assist with lesson prep, organize supplies, and help maintain classroom order with a calm, caring approach. You’ll get hands-on experience working with children who learn at different paces and come from diverse backgrounds. You’ll learn the importance of routines, classroom boundaries, and how consistency builds trust with students. You’ll practice giving clear instructions, using a calm tone, and adapting your communication to meet different needs. You’ll build relationships with students by being present, consistent, and genuinely interested in their progress and well-being.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Support students’ social and emotional development through empathy, guidance, and positive reinforcement.
  • Celebrate student progress—big or small—with encouragement, high-fives, and creativity.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where every child feels safe, respected, and valued.
  • Help students navigate conflicts, build friendships, and learn emotional self-regulation.
  • Adapt quickly when lessons don’t go as planned or students need more time or explanation.

Preferred:

  • Open to attending parent-teacher conferences, school events, and ongoing professional development workshops.
  • Able to manage classroom behavior with consistency, kindness, and positive reinforcement.
  • Comfortable using various instructional strategies including group work, hands-on activities, and technology integration.
  • Comfortable incorporating arts, music, movement, and play into the daily routine.
  • Can build strong classroom routines that promote responsibility, kindness, and academic independence.

Benefits:

  • Paid planning days and professional development that’s actually useful.
  • Collaborative environment — share ideas, celebrate wins, cry if needed, we’re here.
  • Access to counselors, aides, and specialists — you’re not doing this alone.
  • Real mental health days — no guilt, no “sub shortage” shaming.
  • Plenty of prep time — because great lessons need space to breathe.

You’ll also learn how to adapt instruction to meet the needs of different learners, including those who may need extra help or challenge. You’ll participate in parent meetings, team discussions, and training sessions that will shape your skills as an educator. You’ll begin to understand how to balance structure with flexibility and when to lead versus when to observe. We’ll offer feedback, encouragement, and mentorship every step of the way to help you grow. You’ll learn to work with parents and communicate kindly, even when conversations are tricky or emotional. We believe teaching is both an art and a science, and we’ll help you find your rhythm as you grow into the role. This is a chance to build real-world teaching skills while making a real difference in young students’ lives. Join our classroom, share your energy, and help us build a learning space where every student — and teacher — feels like they belong.
