Description:

We’re hiring a Junior Backend Developer to help design, build, and maintain the server-side of our web applications. You’ll work closely with senior developers to design, implement, and maintain the server-side logic and databases for web applications. You’ll assist in writing clean and well-documented code using backend technologies such as Node. js, Python, Java, or Ruby, depending on the stack. You’ll assist with database management, ensuring data integrity, and supporting efficient data retrieval for various services. You’ll collaborate with database administrators to maintain and optimize database systems for fast and efficient data access. You’ll be responsible for building and optimizing RESTful APIs to support new features and services. You’ll participate in optimizing the backend for speed and scalability, addressing performance issues as they arise. You’ll collaborate with other developers, participating in code reviews and pair programming to improve your skills.

Basic Qualifications:

• Test endpoints using tools like Postman, Insomnia, or built-in unit/integration tests to ensure functionality and reliability.
• Break down tasks into manageable chunks and track progress using tools like Jira, Trello, or Notion.
• Assist in creating and maintaining RESTful (or GraphQL) APIs, ensuring they are efficient, scalable, and well-structured.
• Be responsible for the parts of the system you touch—think through edge cases, test thoroughly, and aim for long-term maintainability.
• Be a team player, stay curious, and contribute consistently—you’re here to learn, improve, and build real things that work.

Preferred:

• Can deploy simple apps to services like Render, Vercel, Heroku, or Railway.
• Curious about performance, scalability, and how to write efficient queries or endpoints.
• Can write clean, readable, and reusable code with comments and basic documentation.
• Eager to improve in areas like security, scalability, and clean architecture over time.
• Understands the concept of middleware, request/response lifecycle, and HTTP status codes.
