Description:

We’re hiring a Public Transport Inspector to help ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of buses, trams, or metro systems across the city — perfect for someone who’s detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and committed to public service. You’ll monitor late-night bus, tram, and metro services to ensure schedules are followed, stops are respected, and passengers feel safe. You’ll monitor train arrival and departure times, checking for delays, mechanical sounds, or irregularities in platform behavior. You’ll be trained to inspect emergency exits, fire extinguishers, lighting systems, and ventilation in accordance with safety codes. You’ll inspect interiors for cleanliness, accessibility, proper signage, and functioning ticket validators or displays. You’ll be expected to manage minor disputes on board by de-escalating calmly and avoiding disruption to service. You’ll help enforce quiet hours and support operators in handling noise complaints or inappropriate behavior onboard. You’ll check fare barriers, ticket machines, and validator units for proper function and report malfunctions quickly. You’ll inspect shelters and waiting areas for damage, cleanliness, or safety concerns, and submit maintenance requests if needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Remain visible and professional to deter violations and reassure passengers.
  • Assist in coordinating emergency procedures or passenger evacuations when needed.
  • Document all actions taken during shifts for review, auditing, or enforcement follow-up.
  • Monitor stops and terminals for loitering, unauthorized vendors, or potential disruptions.
  • Support crowd management and passenger flow during peak hours or special events.

Preferred:

  • Values fairness, public safety, and efficiency in transportation oversight.
  • Comfortable using handheld devices or inspection apps to log data and issue citations or reminders.
  • Familiar with emergency protocols, passenger rights, and proper communication during service disruptions.
  • Familiar with monitoring bus, train, tram, or metro services to ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Can report on mechanical issues, environmental hazards, or unsafe rider behavior observed during inspections.

Benefits:

  • Stable hours and predictable shifts — you'll know exactly when you're working.
  • Flexible shifts — full-time, part-time, and rotating shifts available, so you can find the balance that works for you.
  • Work in different environments — you’ll get to work on buses, trains, stations, and more.
  • Access to employee perks — discounts and deals with transport services, local businesses, and more.
  • A positive working environment — work alongside a team of professionals who value your contribution.

You’ll be expected to remain visible and approachable to deter misconduct and help passengers navigate the system. You’ll rotate through different lines, stations, and time zones — including early mornings, evenings, and occasional overnight shifts. You’ll participate in drills and simulated emergency scenarios to prepare for fire, power outages, or evacuation procedures. You’ll maintain clear and calm communication during disruptions to ensure passengers feel informed and supported. You’ll be expected to stay alert and professional during extended hours, especially between 11 PM and 5 AM shifts. You’ll be mentored by senior fare inspectors who understand how to apply rules fairly without unnecessary conflict. You’ll contribute daily logs and inspection notes that help prevent larger issues through early detection. If you’re ready to walk the last platform and protect the final ride of the night, we’re ready to train you for night patrol. If you're ready to help keep public vehicles reliable, safe, and road-ready, we’re ready to train you as a transport inspector.
