Description:

We’re looking for a Gardener / Landscaper Trainee — no experience needed, just a willingness to get your hands dirty and learn something real. If you’ve never planted a flower or trimmed a hedge, that’s okay — we’ll teach you from the ground up. You’ll start with basic tasks like raking, watering, weeding, and helping move soil, mulch, and plants. We’ll show you how to care for native plants, support pollinators, and use sustainable gardening practices. You’ll learn how to identify common plants, trim bushes, remove weeds, and lay down mulch the right way. Expect to spend your days outside — mowing lawns, planting flowers, trimming hedges, and spreading soil or bark. Expect to work outdoors in all weather — hot sun, cool mornings, and sometimes muddy ground — and go home with tired hands and a clear head. You’ll begin to understand how seasons shape your work — from spring planting to fall cleanup and winter prep. You’ll assist with planting trees, building borders, and sometimes even installing irrigation systems.

Basic Qualifications:

• Keep tools clean, sharp, and properly stored; notify supervisors of damaged or missing equipment.
• Build and maintain retaining walls, patios, fences, or raised beds using basic construction tools and techniques.
• Stay informed about regional plants, watering needs, and sustainable landscaping practices suitable for climate and soil.
• Plant, prune, water, and maintain a variety of flowers, shrubs, trees, and lawns in residential, commercial, or public spaces.
• Work with clients or property managers to understand landscaping preferences, budgets, and seasonal maintenance needs.

Preferred:

• Can identify common plant species, weeds, and signs of disease or poor soil health.
• Can manage time efficiently and complete tasks to meet project deadlines.
• Knowledge of basic plant care, soil types, pest control, and irrigation practices.
• Wants to grow into roles like Lead Gardener, Landscape Designer, or Grounds Supervisor.
• Able to maintain and troubleshoot sprinkler systems or hose-based watering schedules.
