We’re hiring a Journalist / Copywriter Trainee to help us report real stories — no experience needed, just curiosity, empathy, and a commitment to writing with truth and clarity. You’ll assist in writing newsletters, product updates, and value-packed emails that don’t sound robotic or salesy. We’ll teach you how to structure headlines, leads, and story arcs that grab attention and keep people reading. You’ll learn how to take raw ideas, voice notes, or transcripts and shape them into sharp, readable pieces. Expect to draft quickly, experiment with phrasing, and learn how to make machine-generated drafts feel alive and brand-aligned. We’ll guide you on how to separate fact from opinion, check sources, and avoid assumptions — the foundations of ethical reporting. We’ll show you how to write with structure — every word serving a function, every sentence helping someone do something better. You’ll learn how to balance brand voice with usability, and how to write copy that’s invisible until it’s needed. You’ll gain habits around writing concisely, testing alternatives, and thinking about tone in moments of success, error, or hesitation.

Basic Qualifications:

• Edit your own drafts with a critical eye before submitting for review.
• Balance creative freedom with messaging goals, timelines, and legal requirements.
• Understand the difference between writing for engagement vs. writing for conversion.
• Communicate proactively if you’re blocked, need context, or see a red flag.
• Meet deadlines reliably while maintaining high standards for accuracy and originality.

Preferred:

• Comfortable conducting interviews, sourcing quotes, and verifying facts for credibility and accuracy.
• Comfortable using Grammarly, Hemingway, or similar tools to refine drafts.
• Open to learning performance-based writing for email, ads, or landing pages.
• Can meet deadlines in fast-paced environments while juggling multiple assignments.
• Can adapt brand tone and voice consistently across all written content.
