Description:

We’re hiring a Baker Trainee who’s passionate about working with their hands, learning classic techniques, and starting each day with the smell of fresh bread and pastry. You’ll begin by learning how to work on the production line, helping prepare thousands of baked goods daily with consistency and speed. You’ll assist in mixing, folding, and resting doughs for baguettes, sourdough, sandwich loaves, and specialty breads. You’ll help portion and shape doughs, scoop batter into tins, and prep items for the oven with speed and accuracy. You’ll help prep and bake items like vegan muffins, gluten-free cookies, banana bread, or allergen-free sandwich loaves. You’ll rotate between mixing, shaping, loading, baking, and packaging stations as part of a coordinated production team. You’ll learn how to inspect products for weight, color, and doneness — flagging any issues for supervisors. You’ll assist in maintaining a clean, allergen-controlled workspace and logging batches to track consistency and safety. You’ll help wrap and label finished breads for wholesale delivery, retail shelves, or early-morning pickup orders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Measure and mix ingredients accurately, adjusting formulas as needed for consistency or scale.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation in compliance with food safety standards.
  • Assist with custom orders or special items for holidays, weddings, or events.
  • Prepare a variety of baked goods such as breads, pastries, cookies, and cakes according to recipes.
  • Take initiative to prep ahead, restock ingredients, or support team members.

Preferred:

  • Familiar with operating mixers, ovens, proofers, dough sheeters, and other baking equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of dough handling, fermentation, shaping, scoring, and baking techniques for different types of products.
  • Wants to grow into roles like Head Baker, Pastry Chef, or Bakery Manager.
  • Familiar with allergen handling, labeling, and recipe adjustments for dietary needs (e.g., gluten-free, vegan).
  • Pays attention to texture, taste, and appearance to ensure consistent product quality and presentation.
