Description:

We’re hiring a Mail Processing Trainee to join our overnight sorting team — ideal for someone who enjoys focused work, quiet environments, and behind-the-scenes logistics. You’ll begin by shadowing experienced carriers on walking, driving, or biking routes, observing how deliveries are organized and prioritized. You’ll be trained to load your delivery bag properly, keeping packages protected and organizing mail by building and floor. You’ll be trained to use postal systems to scan, weigh, and label items correctly for local and international destinations. You’ll learn how to read route maps, use postal scanners, and navigate neighborhoods with or without GPS. You’ll learn how to operate basic sorting machinery and how to clear minor jams or reset bins during the shift. You’ll work in a clean, high-paced environment where accuracy and rhythm matter more than speed alone. You’ll gain experience delivering to businesses, apartments, homes, and remote areas while staying on schedule. You’ll be trained to lift properly, use carts or dollies, and follow safety procedures for repetitive tasks and heavy loads.

Basic Qualifications:

• Support a positive image of the postal service through punctuality and professionalism.
• Collect outgoing mail from homes and drop boxes, ensuring proper postage and handling.
• Obtain signatures for certified or insured deliveries and keep accurate delivery records.
• Follow safety protocols, especially when walking in unfamiliar areas or encountering pets.
• Contribute to a team environment when helping with sorting, rerouting, or training new hires.

Preferred:

• Understands the responsibility of handling sensitive documents and time-critical deliveries.
• Familiar with scanning packages, updating tracking info, or recording delivery confirmations using handheld devices.
• Organized in returning undeliverable items, collecting outgoing mail, and reporting address issues or obstacles.
• Able to follow designated routes, use GPS or route maps, and deliver mail on time in all weather conditions.
• Follows safety procedures when operating a delivery vehicle, walking near roads, or lifting packages.
