Description:

We’re looking for a Trainee Tailor who’s ready to learn one of the most respected and useful trades — tailoring. If you’ve never touched a sewing machine before, don’t worry — we’ll guide you through every stitch. In your first days, you’ll help with simple alterations — fixing zippers, shortening sleeves, and adjusting hems. You’ll observe quiet hands at work — cutting, stitching, pressing — and begin to understand the elegance of the process. You’ll start working on simple repairs — loose seams, button replacements, and basic hems. We’ll teach you how to handle garments with respect, treat customers with sincerity, and let your work speak for itself. You’ll be trained by master tailors who will guide you through techniques that take years to perfect. You’ll also learn hand-stitching techniques for delicate fixes and invisible seams. This job is about precision — small changes can make a big difference in how a garment fits and feels.

Basic Qualifications:

• Ensure all alterations are finished with attention to detail—seams straight, hems clean, buttons aligned, and lining intact.
• Work with delicate fabrics (silk, lace, chiffon) or structured materials (denim, wool, leather) using appropriate techniques.
• Keep a clean, organized workspace—safely storing pins, fabrics, measurements, and tools.
• Sew, alter, repair, and restyle clothing such as suits, dresses, pants, jackets, and uniforms using sewing machines, sergers, and hand stitching.
• Train apprentices or assistants on stitching, fitting, and finishing techniques when applicable.

Preferred:

• Comfortable interacting with customers for fittings and design consultations in a professional manner.
• Willing to create or alter prototypes, samples, or custom design requests when needed.
• Able to repair or modify formalwear, uniforms, traditional clothing, or casual attire.
• Proficient in sewing, altering, and repairing garments by hand or using industrial sewing machines.
• Experience working with various fabrics including cotton, wool, silk, denim, and synthetic blends.
