Description:

We’re hiring a Public Transport Inspector to oversee operations within the metro system — ideal for someone who’s attentive, safety-conscious, and comfortable working underground in a fast-paced environment. You’ll conduct routine inspections of buses, trams, or metro trains to ensure mechanical and structural components meet operational requirements. You’ll check braking systems, lighting, signaling devices, doors, suspension, and emergency equipment according to checklists. You’ll be trained to inspect emergency exits, fire extinguishers, lighting systems, and ventilation in accordance with safety codes. You’ll document observations in digital or paper forms, reporting violations, equipment failures, or service disruptions to dispatch or supervisors. You’ll use diagnostic tools, hand instruments, and visual assessments to record detailed vehicle condition reports. You’ll help enforce quiet hours and support operators in handling noise complaints or inappropriate behavior onboard. You’ll check fare barriers, ticket machines, and validator units for proper function and report malfunctions quickly. You’ll inspect shelters and waiting areas for damage, cleanliness, or safety concerns, and submit maintenance requests if needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Stay informed about updates to public transit policies, fare structures, or route adjustments.
  • Work closely with drivers, controllers, and law enforcement to ensure smooth operations.
  • Act as a representative of public service—firm when needed, fair at all times.
  • Ensure that vehicle operators follow driving, safety, and customer service protocols.
  • Monitor stops and terminals for loitering, unauthorized vendors, or potential disruptions.

Preferred:

  • Comfortable using handheld devices or inspection apps to log data and issue citations or reminders.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations, fare systems, and ticketing technologies including contactless payment methods.
  • Values fairness, public safety, and efficiency in transportation oversight.
  • Willing to educate passengers on fare rules, boarding etiquette, and transit policies when needed.
  • Organized in tracking daily observations, submitting reports, and following up on complaints or compliance issues.

Benefits:

  • Flexible shifts — full-time, part-time, and rotating shifts available, so you can find the balance that works for you.
  • Access to employee perks — discounts and deals with transport services, local businesses, and more.
  • Paid time off and holidays — because you deserve time to recharge.
  • Opportunities to move into specialized areas — like ticket inspection, safety compliance, or customer service roles.
  • You’ll never be bored — every day brings new challenges and new passengers.

You’ll document nighttime activity, incident logs, and inspection summaries with detail and accuracy. You’ll be responsible for logging inspection results digitally, issuing status tags, and scheduling follow-up checks when needed. You’ll work in pairs or small teams to ensure safety and coverage across different routes or areas. You’ll work independently or in pairs, often as the only representative of transit authority in remote or quiet areas. You’ll receive advanced training on vehicle systems, safety codes, and risk documentation procedures. You’ll be mentored by senior fare inspectors who understand how to apply rules fairly without unnecessary conflict. No prior experience is required — just professionalism, integrity, and the willingness to be a visible part of a vital system. If you’re ready to protect the integrity of public transit and ensure everyone rides fairly, we’re ready to train you for inspection duty. If you're ready to help keep public vehicles reliable, safe, and road-ready, we’re ready to train you as a transport inspector.
