Description:

We’re hiring a Seamstress Trainee to join our garment care and alteration team — perfect for someone who enjoys practical sewing, helping people feel confident in their clothes, and learning real-world tailoring skills. You’ll begin by learning how to work on an assembly-style production line, focusing on speed, accuracy, and consistency. You’ll be trained to use industrial machines to shorten pants, take in waists, and adjust jacket sleeves with clean, professional finishes. You’ll help take measurements and fit costumes to performers of all sizes, adjusting pieces for movement, quick changes, or visual impact. You’ll help take client measurements and assist during fittings by noting changes needed for length, bust, waist, and hips. You’ll learn how to make alterations on dresses, pants, jackets, and uniforms — from shortening sleeves to reshaping waists. You’ll assist in checking clothing for damage upon intake and tagging special instructions for custom requests. You’ll learn how to follow tech packs, production charts, and standard sizing templates for uniform results. You’ll rotate across workstations over time to expand your knowledge of garment construction from start to finish.

Basic Qualifications:

• Practice safe handling of needles, scissors, and cutting tools in a shared space.
• Inspect garments for flaws, inconsistencies, or damage before and after alterations.
• Pin, mark, and baste fabrics during the alteration process to ensure accuracy.
• Sew, alter, and repair garments by hand or using industrial sewing machines with precision and care.
• Handle rush orders or last-minute changes with calmness and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

• Enjoys transforming fabric into functional or decorative clothing pieces.
• Wants to grow into roles like Tailor, Patternmaker, Fashion Designer, or Atelier Lead.
• Proficient in operating equipment such as straight-stitch, serger, overlock, or embroidery machines.
• Willing to assist with costume creation, bridal wear, uniforms, or mass-produced apparel based on the role.
• Able to make adjustments based on client feedback, garment testing, or quality control.
