Description:
We’re looking for a Game Writer who can turn mechanics into meaning, quests into emotions, and dialogue into unforgettable moments — someone who sees games not just as systems, but as stories you live inside. You’ll shape character arcs, narrative structure, and thematic resonance across an emotionally driven player journey. You’ll write witty, grounded, or intense dialogue — depending on the tone of the world — and make sure each character has a voice of their own. You’ll write dialogue, item descriptions, cinematic scripts, and branching narratives that adapt to player choices and personalities. You’ll help shape the game’s lore, faction histories, and moral dilemmas that define the player’s journey. You’ll write believable, layered characters with goals, contradictions, and evolving relationships. You’ll help define the tone of the game’s writing — from solemn and serious to strange and darkly funny — and make sure it stays consistent. You’ll collaborate with quest designers to make sure plot hooks, rewards, and player motivations feel earned and narratively grounded. You’ll also work with VO directors and localization partners to ensure lines land emotionally across cultures and performances.
Basic Qualifications:
- Collaborate in narrative design meetings to brainstorm quests, scenes, or major plot beats.
- Edit and refine scripts based on pacing, playtests, and team feedback.
- Help shape emotional player experiences through dialogue pacing, choice consequences, and environmental storytelling.
- Document lore, characters, and storylines so other teams can reference and build on them.
- Develop branching narratives, quests, and outcomes that react to player choices.
Preferred:
- Enjoys crafting meaningful player choices, compelling characters, and rich fictional worlds.
- Background or passion in creative writing, screenwriting, game design, or storytelling for interactive media.
- Wants to grow into roles like Narrative Designer, Lead Writer, or Creative Director.
- Experience writing dialogue, character arcs, and storylines for games, interactive fiction, or narrative-driven experiences.
- Able to maintain deadlines and version control while collaborating remotely or on-site.
Benefits:
- Mental health check-ins and days off when your plot twist hits *you* too hard.
- Weekly narrative syncs where we workshop, laugh, and sometimes cry.
- You’ll be part of storyboards, dialogue trees, and lorebooks from day one.
- Collaborate with level designers, artists, and audio to make your scenes hit.
- We celebrate plot holes fixed, characters born, and jokes that actually land.
You’ll participate in feedback rounds, iterate quickly, and know when to kill your darlings for the sake of flow or clarity. You’ll collaborate with level designers to embed story into the world — not just as text, but as space, silence, and symbol. You should be comfortable using narrative design tools and working in nonlinear, branching systems. You’ll participate in writing room sessions, brainstorms, and internal pitches to evolve characters and narrative arcs. You’ll work with editors, actors, and translators to keep tone consistent — even across wildly different moments. We value writers who listen, revise, and solve narrative problems in ways that serve gameplay first. If you believe games can make people feel more — not just play more — this is where you belong. Let’s build dialogue trees that players *want* to explore, from the sarcastic rogue to the tearful final boss.
