Description:

We’re hiring a Translator Trainee to help localize digital products — no experience needed, just strong language sense, attention to detail, and curiosity about how apps and websites talk to users. No prior experience is necessary — just a love for languages, an eye for detail, and a willingness to learn fast. You’ll assist in translating everything from app screens to website banners, working closely with senior translators. You’ll learn how to work with string tables, keys, and variable-based content like “You have 3 new messages. Expect to work on YouTube videos, interviews, podcasts, courses, and short-form content that needs to be understood across languages. Expect to work with localization tools and learn how strings, keys, and placeholders are handled in modern software. We’ll guide you through common challenges: idioms, slang, technical terms, formal vs informal tone, and regional differences. You’ll also gain experience adjusting tone, catching cultural references, and translating jokes, idioms, and metaphors accurately. You’ll join feedback sessions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and learn how language shapes user experience.

Basic Qualifications:

• Be flexible—some projects are casual and fast-paced, others require meticulous attention to tone.
• Flag content that may not translate well culturally and offer localized alternatives.
• Deliver polished translations, not first drafts—every word should feel intentional.
• Contribute to quality control by reviewing peer translations or providing feedback when asked.
• Proofread and self-check translations before delivery to minimize errors.

Preferred:

• Willing to perform revisions, edits, or post-editing of machine-translated content when required.
• Familiar with localization processes and adapting content for different markets or regions.
• Interested in ongoing language development and staying updated with industry trends.
• Able to maintain meaning, tone, and context during translation across various subject areas.
• Enjoys turning ideas and information into language that resonates across borders.
