Description:
We’re hiring a Seamstress Trainee to join our garment care and alteration team — perfect for someone who enjoys practical sewing, helping people feel confident in their clothes, and learning real-world tailoring skills. You’ll begin by learning the basics — how to operate different sewing machines, handle fabrics, and follow safety procedures. You’ll be trained to use industrial machines to shorten pants, take in waists, and adjust jacket sleeves with clean, professional finishes. You’ll help pin garments for fitting under supervision, learning how to read body language and measure for comfort as well as fit. You’ll help with fittings, measuring clients, and making note of necessary adjustments to improve comfort and silhouette. You’ll support the costume build process from sketches and concept art to final fittings and show-ready garments. You’ll assist with hand-sewing tasks like closing linings, adding buttons, or finishing delicate edges. You’ll be taught how to press garments properly using steamers and irons to give each piece a polished look. You’ll help track inventory, log finished repairs, and prepare garments for pickup or delivery using order systems.
Basic Qualifications:
- Track orders, manage deadlines, and keep detailed notes for each customer or project.
- Stay updated on current fashion trends, tailoring methods, and garment construction.
- Handle rush orders or last-minute changes with calmness and problem-solving skills.
- Follow patterns or design sketches to create new clothing items or custom pieces.
- Measure clients and garments accurately to ensure a perfect fit and flattering silhouette.
Preferred:
- Open to learning new sewing techniques, fashion trends, or specialty garment requirements.
- Familiar with cutting fabric efficiently to reduce waste and maintain pattern integrity.
- Experience sewing garments, home textiles, or accessories either by hand or using industrial sewing machines.
- Proficient in operating equipment such as straight-stitch, serger, overlock, or embroidery machines.
- Enjoys transforming fabric into functional or decorative clothing pieces.
Benefits:
- We honor old-school skill — your experience speaks louder than any degree.
- Get recognized for flawless finishes, not just fast jobs.
- Turn fabric into something beautiful — and get paid for your craftsmanship.
- Quiet, focused workspace — no loud chaos, just the hum of the machine.
- Your workspace is stocked — threads, scissors, irons, and even good lighting.
You’ll rotate between stitching, fitting, repairs, and backstage support during tech rehearsals or filming days. You’ll gain exposure to all kinds of clothing — from leather jackets to wedding gowns to school uniforms — learning how to handle each properly. You’ll gain insight into how bulk orders are fulfilled for uniforms, retail brands, or contract clients. You’ll gain exposure to wardrobe continuity, production schedules, and the collaborative process between departments. You’ll be mentored by experienced industrial seamstresses who will teach you both speed and craftsmanship. You’ll be mentored by bridal specialists who will guide your stitching, posture, and eye for elegance. This internship is great for someone considering tailoring, dry-cleaning operations, or fashion repair services. This internship is perfect for someone interested in couture tailoring, fashion design, or luxury garment work. If you’re ready to work with lace, patience, and love, we’re ready to train you in the bridal atelier.
