We’re offering an Actuary Trainee position for someone who loves working with numbers, patterns, and predictions — no experience needed, just a sharp mind and curiosity about risk management. You’ll support senior actuaries in analyzing trends, building financial models, and exploring patterns in risk-related data. We’ll teach you how to calculate probabilities, assess uncertainty, and build scenarios that help companies prepare for the unexpected. You’ll learn to use industry-standard tools and spreadsheets to simulate future scenarios and analyze risk exposure. Expect to calculate probabilities, analyze trends, and understand how small shifts in data impact financial outcomes. You’ll learn to interpret mortality tables, claim patterns, and economic assumptions. We’ll guide you through the principles of time value of money, discounting, and present value calculations. You’ll sit in on meetings where risk is discussed not just mathematically, but as business impact. We’ll show you how to document your work clearly, explain assumptions, and spot inconsistencies in data inputs.

Basic Qualifications:

• Take a proactive role in identifying risks before they become expensive problems.
• Balance mathematical precision with practical judgment—sometimes the data alone isn't enough.
• Train or mentor junior actuarial staff and help them prepare for certification exams.
• Review reinsurance arrangements and evaluate how they affect risk exposure and capital needs.
• Adapt models for use in new product lines or geographies as the business grows.

Preferred:

• Pays close attention to assumptions, methodologies, and sensitivity analysis in modeling.
• Able to analyze large data sets and interpret trends for insurance, pensions, or investment decisions.
• Experience working with actuarial software, spreadsheets, or programming languages such as R, Python, or SQL.
• Understands regulatory environments and reporting requirements in insurance or finance.
• Willing to validate and test actuarial models for accuracy and robustness.
