Description:

We’re hiring a Mail Carrier Trainee who’s ready to learn how to deliver mail efficiently, accurately, and with a friendly attitude — rain or shine. You’ll begin by learning how incoming mail is received, sorted, and prepared for carriers or pickup shelves. You’ll assist behind the counter, organizing letters and packages for walk-in customers and scheduled deliveries. You’ll be trained to read postal codes, route labels, and special instructions to direct each item to the correct zone. You’ll help with bagging, sealing, and labeling outgoing mailbags for delivery to local, regional, or national destinations. You’ll support pickups as well — collecting outgoing mail from offices, businesses, and shared residential buildings. You’ll assist with organizing mail for different carrier routes, grouping by zip code, street, or delivery order. You’ll help collect outgoing mail from rural homes, pickup boxes, or roadside stands as part of your route. You’ll be taught how to scan barcodes, confirm delivery with timestamps, and leave notices for missed packages or pickups.

Basic Qualifications:

• Respond politely to customers’ questions or requests about deliveries or postal procedures.
• Assist with bulk mail pickups or deliveries for local businesses and organizations.
• Sort and organize mail and packages for your delivery route before leaving the post office.
• Communicate any delays, missed deliveries, or issues with dispatch or supervisors.
• Operate a mail truck, bicycle, or walk route safely while respecting traffic laws and weather conditions.

Preferred:

• Enjoys physical, outdoors-based work with a sense of independence and purpose.
• Understands how to handle fragile, perishable, or time-sensitive items appropriately.
• Experience handling physical deliveries, either on foot, by bicycle, or by vehicle, in residential or commercial areas.
• Capable of managing a fast-paced workload independently while meeting strict time deadlines.
• Comfortable with early morning shifts, holiday work, or extended hours during peak seasons.

You’ll be taught how to resolve customer concerns with professionalism and when to escalate issues to a supervisor. You’ll be trained in weather safety, load balance, and walking/driving efficiency to stay productive in all conditions.
