Description:

We’re looking for a Building Maintenance Technician Trainee who’s eager to learn, even if you’ve never fixed anything before. You’ll be part of the crew that keeps the building running smoothly, from light fixtures to water systems. You’ll begin by assisting our maintenance crew with daily routines, inspections, and simple repair tasks. You’ll begin by shadowing experienced maintenance staff and learning the basics of building systems. You’ll start to understand how heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical components are maintained day to day. You’ll discover how heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems work together in real time. You’ll walk through hallways, rooftops, mechanical rooms, and maintenance closets — no two days will look the same. We’ll train you to be proactive — knowing when to tighten a bolt or report a weird noise. You’ll work in different parts of the building, from stairwells to service rooms to rooftops — gaining a full perspective.

Basic Qualifications:

• Help manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies—ordering replacements or notifying supervisors when stock is low.
• Update logs and work orders using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) to track activity and parts used.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance history and equipment condition for inspections and audits.
• Adapt to a variety of facility types—office buildings, schools, retail, apartments—based on employer or assignment.
• Identify opportunities to improve building energy efficiency, safety, or space functionality and report them to management.

Preferred:

• Able to lift heavy equipment, work on ladders, and complete tasks in tight or elevated spaces.
• Familiar with digital work order systems, building management software, or spreadsheets.
• Familiar with basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry repairs.
• Familiar with basic building codes, fire safety regulations, and emergency procedures.
• Willing to assist with minor renovations, painting, drywall repair, or furniture assembly.
