Description:
We’re looking for Firefighter Trainees — no prior experience needed, just courage, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility. You’ll begin with physical training and basic drills — learning how to move in gear, follow orders, and stay calm under pressure. We’ll train you in the fundamentals: how to handle gear, enter burning buildings safely, and communicate clearly in high-stress situations. From day one, you’ll begin building strength, discipline, and a mindset that doesn’t break when things go wrong. You’ll learn how to rescue victims, carry equipment, and work in heat, smoke, and uncertainty without hesitation. From day one, you’ll be treated like part of the crew — expected to show up, work hard, and have your teammate’s back. You’ll carry weight — not just equipment, but the weight of responsibility, of urgency, of being needed. This job isn’t just about putting out fires — it’s about protecting lives, property, and community with every decision you make. This role isn’t just about fire — it’s about car crashes, floods, chemical spills, and everything in between.
Basic Qualifications:
- Work in extreme environments: smoke, heat, confined spaces, or high altitudes.
- Stay updated on new fire codes, procedures, and emergency medical practices.
- Adapt quickly when conditions change—fires don’t follow a script.
- Write detailed reports after incidents to document actions and findings.
- Enter burning structures wearing protective gear to locate and rescue people or pets.
Preferred:
- Committed to community service, risk reduction, and public outreach.
- Background or strong interest in firefighting, emergency response, or public safety.
- Able to follow strict safety procedures and maintain discipline in dangerous environments.
- Physically fit and able to carry heavy gear, climb ladders, and work in extreme heat or smoke.
- Willing to represent the fire department with professionalism and integrity at all times.
Benefits:
- Health, dental, vision, and mental wellness support — because you’re human too.
- You’ll earn respect just by doing your job — because it’s not just a job, it’s a calling.
- Community appreciation — people know your name and thank you for your service.
- Modern firehouses with clean kitchens, gyms, lounges — your second home is comfortable.
- Pension plan, job security, and benefits that actually mean something.
Each day, you’ll get closer to being that person who runs toward danger when others run away — with skill, not just bravery. Every siren will test you, but it will also remind you why you signed up: to make a difference when others can’t. You’ll go home tired, sometimes shaken — but always knowing you did something that mattered that day. You’ll also participate in community outreach, fire prevention education, and daily readiness checks at the station. You’ll go home proud, knowing you didn’t just work — you served, protected, and stood for something greater than yourself. We won’t sugarcoat it — it’s hard work, long hours, and real responsibility, but it’s also real reward. By the end of your training, you won’t just be stronger — you’ll be someone your team and your city can count on. If you’re ready to learn, commit, and earn respect through action — we’re ready to invest in you from day one.
