Description:

We’re looking for a Barista Trainee who’s curious about the craft of coffee and wants to be part of a thoughtful, people-centered café. You’ll start by shadowing experienced baristas, learning how to operate espresso machines, grinders, and other café equipment. You’ll assist in prepping gear, checking the espresso machine, and stocking milk, beans, and cups before service starts. You’ll be trained in milk steaming technique, practicing texture and temperature until you’re confident with every cup. You’ll learn to multitask — pulling shots, steaming milk, and chatting with customers, all in tight spaces and changing environments. You’ll support mobile setup and teardown, learning how to pack equipment safely and efficiently for transport. You’ll be taught the basics of extraction, mouthfeel, and how water temperature affects flavor. You’ll learn how to build a drinks menu that respects the season, highlights origin beans, and pairs well with our pastries. You’ll help support daily rituals like cuppings, team calibration, and opening the café with intention and flow.

Basic Qualifications:

• Assist in training new hires by modeling good habits and sharing tips.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness at the bar, workstations, and customer areas.
• Contribute ideas for improving service, efficiency, or customer experience.
• Learn customer names and preferences to build a friendly, community-driven environment.
• Memorize the menu, including seasonal specials and alternative options for dietary needs.

Preferred:

• Thrives in fast-paced, customer-focused settings where speed meets craft.
• Familiar with basic coffee bean knowledge, roast profiles, and brewing techniques (e.g., pour-over, French press, cold brew).
• Friendly and engaging with customers, capable of taking orders clearly and offering product recommendations.
• Open to offering samples, upselling, and sharing product knowledge with curious customers.
• Willing to assist with food prep, pastry display, and light cleaning duties during slow periods.
