Description:

We’re looking for a Building Maintenance Technician Trainee who’s eager to learn, even if you’ve never fixed anything before. You’ll be part of the crew that keeps the building running smoothly, from light fixtures to water systems. No problem — we’ll train you in the real world, one task at a time. You’ll help with small repairs, like tightening door hinges, replacing ceiling tiles, or unclogging a sink. You’ll start to understand how heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical components are maintained day to day. You’ll gain insight into plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and general upkeep — all in real-life settings. You’ll walk through hallways, rooftops, mechanical rooms, and maintenance closets — no two days will look the same. We’ll train you to be proactive — knowing when to tighten a bolt or report a weird noise. You’ll learn the difference between quick fixes and long-term solutions — and when to escalate issues to senior techs.

Basic Qualifications:

• Respond to service requests for minor repairs, fixture replacements, leaks, clogs, or general building upkeep.
• Help manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies—ordering replacements or notifying supervisors when stock is low.
• Test and maintain emergency systems such as backup generators, exit lighting, and fire extinguishers according to schedule.
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and infrastructure to identify issues, perform preventative maintenance, and minimize downtime.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance history and equipment condition for inspections and audits.

Preferred:

• Able to inspect and troubleshoot issues with lighting, locks, doors, restrooms, or appliances.
• Able to prioritize tasks and respond quickly to urgent maintenance issues.
• Familiar with basic building codes, fire safety regulations, and emergency procedures.
• Willing to suggest improvements to energy efficiency, equipment longevity, or repair processes.
• Comfortable working independently or alongside janitorial, security, or vendor teams.
