Description:
We’re looking for a Pastry Decorator who thrives in a fast-paced environment — someone who can keep quality high while handling volume with efficiency, accuracy, and pride in every detail. You’ll design and execute high-end pastry presentations for weddings, luxury events, VIP clients, and upscale retail displays. You’ll meet with clients or take detailed briefs to understand exactly what they’re dreaming of, then bring it to life with buttercream, fondant, and artistry. You’ll collaborate with executive chefs and planners to ensure every creation aligns with theme, palette, and overall event aesthetic. You’ll lead decoration for multi-tiered cakes, petits fours, plated desserts, and limited-edition product drops. You’ll manage timelines carefully, working backward from delivery or pickup deadlines to build in drying time, layering, and finishing touches. You’ll help prep décor elements in batches, from sugar flowers to piped embellishments and painted accents. You’ll test and refine new design ideas, contributing to seasonal collections and exclusive client offerings. You’ll contribute to seasonal collections, new menu items, and display concepts that reflect current trends and customer tastes.
Basic Qualifications:
- Use piping, fondant, airbrushing, stenciling, and hand-painted techniques to bring designs to life.
- Repair minor flaws or damages on baked goods quickly and cleanly when needed.
- Work efficiently under pressure, especially during high-volume seasons like holidays or weddings.
- Clean and maintain tools like piping tips, spatulas, and airbrush kits for long-term use.
- Adapt designs quickly when last-minute changes or constraints arise.
Preferred:
- Knows how to adapt designs for dietary needs, such as gluten-free or vegan orders.
- Willing to prep elements in advance, such as flowers, toppers, or fondant accents, for efficiency.
- Familiar with photographing and presenting finished pastries for marketing or portfolio use.
- Experience decorating cakes, cupcakes, pastries, or cookies for events, bakeries, or custom orders.
- Open to trying new decoration techniques, textures, or trends like mirror glaze, geode cakes, or airbrushing.
