Description:

We’re hiring a Translator Trainee to help with subtitles and video content — no experience required, just good listening skills, language precision, and an eye for timing. You’ll assist in translating interface text: buttons, tooltips, error messages, notifications, and onboarding flows. You’ll assist in translating everything from app screens to website banners, working closely with senior translators. You’ll learn the difference between transcription, translation, and localization — and how to adapt meaning for different audiences. Expect to work on YouTube videos, interviews, podcasts, courses, and short-form content that needs to be understood across languages. You’ll help improve auto-subtitles, edit AI drafts, and make sure translations flow naturally and stay faithful to the original. We’ll guide you through common challenges: idioms, slang, technical terms, formal vs informal tone, and regional differences. You’ll also gain experience adjusting tone, catching cultural references, and translating jokes, idioms, and metaphors accurately. You’ll collaborate with editors, content creators, and voice-over teams to make sure translations land with the right intent.

Basic Qualifications:

• Follow client or brand guidelines to ensure translations align with tone and voice.
• Stay current with language trends, regional variations, and industry-specific vocabulary.
• Be flexible—some projects are casual and fast-paced, others require meticulous attention to tone.
• Manage your time efficiently, especially when switching between languages or topics.
• Translate with empathy—considering emotional context, not just technical accuracy.

• Familiar with proofreading workflows and quality assurance standards in the language industry.
• Can handle confidential or sensitive materials with discretion and professionalism.
• Background or interest in linguistics, foreign languages, international relations, or content localization.
• Wants to grow into roles like Localization Specialist, Copy Editor, or Multilingual Content Manager.
• Open to collaboration with editors, project managers, or localization engineers.
