Description:

We’re hiring a Mail Carrier Trainee to support daily operations at our city post office — perfect for someone who enjoys structured work, customer service, and learning how mail moves from counter to doorstep. You’ll begin by learning how mail and packages arrive at the distribution center and are sorted for morning routes. You’ll be trained to load your delivery bag properly, keeping packages protected and organizing mail by building and floor. You’ll be trained to read postal codes, route labels, and special instructions to direct each item to the correct zone. You’ll learn how to read route maps, use postal scanners, and navigate neighborhoods with or without GPS. You’ll learn how to operate basic sorting machinery and how to clear minor jams or reset bins during the shift. You’ll gain confidence in biking through city traffic, using bike lanes and safe crossing points to stay on route. You’ll assist in keeping records of misrouted items, rejected barcodes, and damaged packaging that needs inspection. You’ll rotate between the front desk, sorting area, and storage room to understand the full scope of post office logistics.

Basic Qualifications:

• Respond politely to customers’ questions or requests about deliveries or postal procedures.
• Communicate any delays, missed deliveries, or issues with dispatch or supervisors.
• Assist with bulk mail pickups or deliveries for local businesses and organizations.
• Follow assigned routes efficiently while adapting to detours, traffic, or road conditions.
• Collect outgoing mail from homes and drop boxes, ensuring proper postage and handling.
