Description:

We’re looking for a beginner Tailor who’s ready to learn the timeless craft of garment making and alterations. As a Tailor Trainee, you don’t need any experience, just patience, focus, and the willingness to learn slowly and properly. You’ll begin with the basics: folding fabric, threading needles, and understanding the rhythm of the sewing machine. Each day, you’ll observe fittings, learn to take measurements, and understand the language of cut, fit, and fabric. You’ll be trained in both hand stitching and machine sewing, always with close supervision and guidance. You’ll also practice ironing, pinning garments, and preparing items for fittings and final touches. You’ll be trained by master tailors who will guide you through techniques that take years to perfect. Every day you’ll improve — stitching straighter, handling fabric better, and moving with more confidence. Expect to build both technical skills and artistic judgment — tailoring is as much about feel as it is about tools.

Basic Qualifications:

• Adhere to deadlines, especially for weddings, events, or seasonal wardrobe needs—meeting expectations with care and precision.
• Keep a clean, organized workspace—safely storing pins, fabrics, measurements, and tools.
• Adjust garments for special needs or accessibility (e.g., adaptive clothing modifications for medical or mobility reasons).
• Maintain and care for tailoring tools and equipment, including needles, irons, scissors, sewing machines, and mannequins.
• Ensure all alterations are finished with attention to detail—seams straight, hems clean, buttons aligned, and lining intact.

Preferred:

• Able to take accurate body measurements and translate them into well-fitted garments.
• Able to repair or modify formalwear, uniforms, traditional clothing, or casual attire.
• Experience working with various fabrics including cotton, wool, silk, denim, and synthetic blends.
• Pays strong attention to detail and maintains consistency in every stitch and seam.
• Experience working in a tailor shop, fashion studio, dry cleaner, or costume department.
