Description:

We’re offering a hands-on trainee position for someone who dreams of becoming a compassionate and capable elementary school teacher. In this role, you’ll begin each day by helping students settle in, organizing classroom materials, and preparing for the learning ahead. You’ll shadow experienced teachers, observe their teaching styles, and begin to understand what effective instruction really looks like. You’ll help manage classroom routines, maintain structure, and gently guide students in their behavior and focus. You’ll sit with small groups to support early readers, answer questions during activities, and celebrate small wins with high fives and encouragement. You’ll support students one-on-one when they need extra help — with reading, math, or even just tying their shoes. You’ll help create a classroom environment where every child feels safe, respected, and excited to learn. We’ll coach you in classroom management strategies, positive reinforcement, and how to turn chaos into teachable moments. You’ll prepare materials, tidy learning centers, and contribute to decorating the classroom with student work.

Basic Qualifications:

• Support students’ social and emotional development through empathy, guidance, and positive reinforcement.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to help students grow academically and emotionally.
• Use educational tools and technologies to enhance learning and track progress.
• Adapt quickly when lessons don’t go as planned or students need more time or explanation.
• Foster a love of reading, problem-solving, and critical thinking from an early age.

Preferred:

• Familiar with assessing student progress through quizzes, observations, and formative assessments.
• Certified or licensed teacher with a background in elementary education, child development, or a related field.
• Values patience, consistency, and enthusiasm in the learning environment.
• Comfortable using various instructional strategies including group work, hands-on activities, and technology integration.
• Committed to creating a culturally responsive classroom that respects and reflects student diversity.
