Description:

We’re looking for a Gardener / Landscaper Trainee — no experience needed, just a willingness to get your hands dirty and learn something real. You don’t need a green thumb yet — we’ll help you grow it, one plant at a time. You’ll start with basic tasks like raking, watering, weeding, and helping move soil, mulch, and plants. We’ll teach you the names of common plants, how to care for them, and how to recognize when something’s wrong. You’ll learn how to identify common plants, trim bushes, remove weeds, and lay down mulch the right way. Each day you’ll see how small details — like clean edges or evenly spaced plants — make a huge visual difference. Expect to work outdoors in all weather — hot sun, cool mornings, and sometimes muddy ground — and go home with tired hands and a clear head. You’ll discover how to prepare soil, transplant plants without damaging roots, and create healthy growing environments. We’ll show you how to spot signs of disease, pests, or poor drainage — and how to fix or prevent problems.

Basic Qualifications:

• Stay informed about regional plants, watering needs, and sustainable landscaping practices suitable for climate and soil.
• Trim trees, remove dead branches, and support proper tree structure using appropriate pruning methods.
• Read and follow site plans, blueprints, or garden designs to install and maintain landscapes accurately.
• Build and maintain retaining walls, patios, fences, or raised beds using basic construction tools and techniques.
• Adapt to outdoor working conditions—sun, rain, heat, or cold—and maintain productivity across changing environments.

Preferred:

• Can communicate with clients in a friendly and professional manner to understand landscaping needs.
• Familiar with seasonal planting schedules, composting, and fertilizer application.
• Understands how to follow landscaping plans or instructions from clients or supervisors.
• Able to maintain and troubleshoot sprinkler systems or hose-based watering schedules.
• Willing to assist with hardscaping tasks such as laying stones, borders, or light pathway construction.
