We’re inviting you to step into the world of tailoring — a craft built on care, detail, and tradition. You’ll start with the foundations: learning to measure accurately, handle fabric gently, and follow patterns. That’s fine — all you need is steady focus, a careful eye, and a love for clothing that fits right. You’ll observe quiet hands at work — cutting, stitching, pressing — and begin to understand the elegance of the process. In your first weeks, you’ll help with simple alterations like hemming, adjusting lengths, and reattaching buttons. You’ll learn to recognize fabrics by touch, understand their behavior, and choose the right technique for each one. You’ll be trained by master tailors who will guide you through techniques that take years to perfect. Your first stitches may be small — fixing linings, adjusting cuffs — but they’ll be the start of something lasting. Expect to build both technical skills and artistic judgment — tailoring is as much about feel as it is about tools.

Basic Qualifications:

• Maintain and care for tailoring tools and equipment, including needles, irons, scissors, sewing machines, and mannequins.
• Adhere to deadlines, especially for weddings, events, or seasonal wardrobe needs—meeting expectations with care and precision.
• Measure clients accurately using tape measures and fitting techniques to ensure custom garments or alterations fit precisely.
• Sew, alter, repair, and restyle clothing such as suits, dresses, pants, jackets, and uniforms using sewing machines, sergers, and hand stitching.
• Track work orders, deadlines, and fittings using logs, client cards, or digital systems to ensure timely delivery.

Preferred:

• Comfortable interacting with customers for fittings and design consultations in a professional manner.
• Can work with both traditional paper patterns and digital templates or measurements.
• Familiar with different stitching techniques, patterns, and finishing methods for a clean, professional look.
• Can meet deadlines for tailoring jobs and handle multiple garments simultaneously.
• Willing to suggest design adjustments to improve comfort, mobility, or style.
