Description:

We’re hiring a Mail Carrier Trainee for our urban bicycle delivery team — perfect for someone who enjoys movement, independence, and getting mail where it needs to go quickly. You’ll begin by learning how to prepare your vehicle and route for longer trips with fewer stops but greater distances between deliveries. You’ll assist behind the counter, organizing letters and packages for walk-in customers and scheduled deliveries. You’ll help load mail into bags or vehicles, making sure fragile and high-priority items are placed properly. You’ll learn how to scan deliveries, get electronic signatures, and mark successful drop-offs using a handheld device. You’ll support pickups as well — collecting outgoing mail from offices, businesses, and shared residential buildings. You’ll gain confidence in biking through city traffic, using bike lanes and safe crossing points to stay on route. You’ll help collect outgoing mail from rural homes, pickup boxes, or roadside stands as part of your route. You’ll be trained to lift properly, use carts or dollies, and follow safety procedures for repetitive tasks and heavy loads.

Basic Qualifications:

• Respond politely to customers’ questions or requests about deliveries or postal procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of personal or business information seen during deliveries.
• Operate a mail truck, bicycle, or walk route safely while respecting traffic laws and weather conditions.
• Follow assigned routes efficiently while adapting to detours, traffic, or road conditions.
• Work independently while managing your time and delivery priorities efficiently.

Preferred:

• Able to follow designated routes, use GPS or route maps, and deliver mail on time in all weather conditions.
• Capable of managing a fast-paced workload independently while meeting strict time deadlines.
• Thrives in environments where reliability, routine, and service quality are essential.
• Enjoys physical, outdoors-based work with a sense of independence and purpose.
• Familiar with organizing, sorting, and loading mail or packages for efficient route delivery.
