Description:
We’re hiring a Paramedic Trainee to support non-emergency and interfacility transport — ideal for someone who wants to build medical experience in a steady, structured setting. You’ll begin by shadowing licensed paramedics on real calls, observing how they assess, stabilize, and transport patients under pressure. You’ll assist with preparing trauma kits, oxygen tanks, triage tags, and field equipment for rapid deployment. You’ll be taught how to help establish field care zones, prioritize patients, and support paramedics during mass-casualty triage. You’ll be trained to adapt when resources are limited and hospital access takes 30 minutes or more by road. You’ll assist in lifting patients from hazardous environments and supporting their transfer to emergency vehicles. You’ll assist in lifting and moving patients safely, following ergonomic techniques and team coordination. You’ll be part of a calm but focused environment where precision, compassion, and professionalism define the experience. You’ll assist with patient handoffs at small clinics or regional hospitals, often with limited staff on duty.
Basic Qualifications:
- Respond rapidly to emergency calls and assess the condition of patients at the scene.
- Remain flexible and alert throughout unpredictable, high-intensity shifts.
- Work alongside police, firefighters, and other emergency services during complex incidents.
- Provide advanced life support, including airway management, CPR, defibrillation, and medication administration.
- Report equipment malfunctions or vehicle issues promptly to maintain operational readiness.
Preferred:
- Thrives in unpredictable, high-stakes environments where readiness and skill save lives.
- Organized in documenting patient vitals, treatments, and interventions using electronic or written patient care reports (PCRs).
- Can educate patients and family members about care steps or post-discharge instructions when appropriate.
- Pays close attention to symptoms, injury mechanisms, and situational awareness while on scene.
- Open to ongoing training, certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, PHTLS), and continuous professional development.
Benefits:
- Overtime is optional, not forced — your health matters too.
- Paid CEUs and courses — we support your certification and license renewals.
- You’ll see the impact of your work instantly — in lives stabilized and stories continued.
- Mental health support is not an afterthought — debriefs, therapy options, and peer groups.
- Your decisions matter — and are respected by the whole emergency chain.
You’ll receive instruction on handling stress, fatigue, and emotional load during prolonged operations or night shifts. You’ll help with communication between the on-site crew and dispatch, ambulance units, or event command centers. You’ll learn how paramedics assess whether a person can remain at the event or needs to be transported to a hospital. You’ll build a strong foundation in observation, preparation, and flexibility — core skills for any future medic. You’ll receive regular feedback and guidance from certified paramedics and EMTs who value teamwork and teaching. No experience is needed — just a deep sense of responsibility, curiosity, and respect for the challenges of rural medicine. This internship is ideal for someone considering EMS, wilderness rescue, or healthcare work in underserved regions. If you’re ready to serve people when they need help the most, we’re ready to train you in pre-hospital care.
