Description:

We’re looking for a Gardener / Landscaper Trainee who wants to work with the earth, learn by doing, and make outdoor spaces come alive. You don’t need a green thumb yet — we’ll help you grow it, one plant at a time. You’ll begin by supporting the team with simple tasks like pulling weeds, watering new plants, and clearing debris. We’ll teach you the names of common plants, how to care for them, and how to recognize when something’s wrong. You’ll learn how to compost, mulch effectively, and reduce waste while maintaining healthy green areas. You’ll begin to recognize plant types, understand soil conditions, and learn how sunlight and water affect growth. Expect early mornings, fresh air, physical effort, and that unique satisfaction of seeing your work bloom. You’ll discover how to prepare soil, transplant plants without damaging roots, and create healthy growing environments. You’ll assist with planting trees, building borders, and sometimes even installing irrigation systems.

Basic Qualifications:

• Transport soil, compost, rocks, or plants using wheelbarrows, carts, or light machinery as needed on-site.
• Mow and edge lawns regularly, ensuring consistent height and appearance across landscaped areas.
• Assist in sourcing and selecting plants, garden materials, and decorative features from local nurseries or suppliers.
• Trim trees, remove dead branches, and support proper tree structure using appropriate pruning methods.
• Track hours, materials used, or tasks completed using logs or apps for reporting and billing purposes.

Preferred:

• Willing to assist with hardscaping tasks such as laying stones, borders, or light pathway construction.
• Background or interest in horticulture, botany, outdoor maintenance, or landscaping design.
• Thrives in nature-focused, physically active, and seasonally dynamic environments.
• Can identify common plant species, weeds, and signs of disease or poor soil health.
• Able to maintain and troubleshoot sprinkler systems or hose-based watering schedules.
