Description:
We’re hiring a Baker Trainee to join our cozy café team — perfect for someone who loves the smell of fresh pastry and wants to help create baked goods that people enjoy every morning. You’ll begin by learning how to work on the production line, helping prepare thousands of baked goods daily with consistency and speed. You’ll be trained to follow house recipes carefully while still leaving room for creativity and personal touch. You’ll be trained to shape loaves, rolls, and pastries with consistency and care, following in-house recipes and ratios. You’ll help monitor baking times and temperatures, rotating trays and adjusting settings under supervision. You’ll support the mixing, shaping, and finishing of baked goods that meet strict dietary and safety guidelines. You’ll learn how to operate mixers, ovens, proofers, and cooling racks safely and efficiently. You’ll receive guidance on overnight pacing — how to stay focused and productive through long, quiet hours. You’ll be part of testing new recipes, helping explore how natural binders and leaveners react in small-batch baking.
Basic Qualifications:
- Follow daily production schedules to meet demand and minimize waste.
- Bake with passion—people can taste the difference when it’s made with care.
- Adapt recipes or batch sizes based on customer orders, inventory levels, or seasonal trends.
- Work early mornings or overnight shifts to ensure goods are ready for opening hours.
- Stay current on baking trends, seasonal flavors, and decorating techniques.
Preferred:
- Can work independently or take direction in a bakery, café, hotel, or commissary kitchen.
- Enjoys creating baked goods that bring joy, comfort, and satisfaction to others.
- Comfortable maintaining cleanliness, following food safety regulations, and using protective equipment.
- Experience preparing baked goods such as breads, pastries, cookies, cakes, or pies in a commercial or artisanal setting.
- Pays attention to texture, taste, and appearance to ensure consistent product quality and presentation.
