Description:

We’re offering a hands-on trainee position for someone who dreams of becoming a compassionate and capable elementary school teacher. As a trainee, you’ll observe real classroom dynamics, support students in their day-to-day learning, and gradually take on more responsibilities with guidance. From day one, you’ll support young students with hands-on help during lessons, activities, and transitions throughout the school day. You’ll support the lead teacher with everything from lesson delivery to classroom organization and activity supervision. You’ll encourage students when they get stuck, listen when they need to talk, and celebrate their little victories. You’ll support students one-on-one when they need extra help — with reading, math, or even just tying their shoes. You’ll assist with setting up the classroom, organizing materials, and keeping the space welcoming and safe. You’ll practice giving clear instructions, using a calm tone, and adapting your communication to meet different needs. You’ll prepare materials, tidy learning centers, and contribute to decorating the classroom with student work.

Basic Qualifications:

• Reflect on your own teaching and look for ways to improve and inspire.
• Foster a love of reading, problem-solving, and critical thinking from an early age.
• Use educational tools and technologies to enhance learning and track progress.
• Help students navigate conflicts, build friendships, and learn emotional self-regulation.
• Prepare classroom materials, visuals, and activities in advance to keep each day structured and smooth.

Preferred:

• Pays close attention to individual learning styles, social-emotional needs, and behavioral patterns.
• Willing to supervise recess, lunch, field trips, and extracurricular activities as needed.
• Certified or licensed teacher with a background in elementary education, child development, or a related field.
• Committed to creating a culturally responsive classroom that respects and reflects student diversity.
• Able to adapt lesson plans in response to classroom dynamics or unforeseen challenges.
