We’re hiring a Journalist / Copywriter Trainee to help us report real stories — no experience needed, just curiosity, empathy, and a commitment to writing with truth and clarity. You’ll assist in writing newsletters, product updates, and value-packed emails that don’t sound robotic or salesy. We’ll teach you how to structure an email: subject lines, hooks, body, and clear CTAs that actually get clicked. You’ll learn to go beyond prompting: shaping voice, fact-checking, correcting tone, and making sure the final text actually sounds like a human. Expect to draft blog posts, polish landing page text, and help brainstorm headlines that convert without being cliché. We’ll guide you on how to separate fact from opinion, check sources, and avoid assumptions — the foundations of ethical reporting. You’ll gain experience writing short profiles, event recaps, long-form articles, and mini-documentaries in written form. You’ll help repurpose blog content into shorter tips for email or social, learning how to adapt long to short and back again. We’ll guide you through basic SEO principles — how to structure text for readability and find the balance between keywords and natural voice.

Basic Qualifications:

• Write headlines, subject lines, and social copy that grab attention without being clickbait.
• Keep refining your voice, skills, and instincts—the best writers never stop learning.
• Write fast without sacrificing clarity or craft when news or deadlines demand it.
• Meet deadlines reliably while maintaining high standards for accuracy and originality.
• Write clear, compelling content across formats—articles, blog posts, emails, landing pages, and more.

Preferred:

• Able to research topics thoroughly using credible sources and present balanced perspectives.
• Familiar with AP or Chicago style (or willing to learn editorial standards as needed).
• Organized in managing content calendars, drafts, feedback, and final delivery timelines.
• Can adjust copy length and style depending on format: short captions, long-form features, or microcopy.
• Understands the basics of audience targeting and messaging strategy.
