Description:
We’re hiring an Architect Trainee who’s excited to bring ideas to life through structure, space, and purpose — no experience required, just a drive to learn and a love for thoughtful design. You’ll assist our team in the early stages of design development, including site analysis, concept sketches, and schematic layouts. We’ll teach you how to read and create architectural drawings, from floor plans to sections and elevations. You’ll collaborate with architects, engineers, and designers to solve layout challenges and refine user flow. Expect to use tools like Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe InDesign to present and develop your work. You’ll help gather site data, take measurements, and understand how physical constraints shape design decisions. We’ll show you how to balance client expectations with regulatory standards and design integrity. You’ll help prepare presentation decks, client proposals, and design boards that tell the story behind each project. You’ll also sit in on client consultations to understand how architects balance vision, budget, and regulations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Ensure architectural integrity and coherence across all project elements and disciplines.
- Stay up-to-date on local building codes, ADA requirements, and safety standards.
- Adapt your communication style for clients, builders, and city officials alike.
- Sketch freely when ideas are raw—think napkin, not always blueprint.
- Review shop drawings and RFIs during construction to maintain design fidelity.
Preferred:
- Experienced in producing detailed floor plans, elevations, sections, and architectural details.
- Able to manage multiple design iterations and communicate rationale for each decision.
- Proficient in CAD and BIM software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, or ArchiCAD.
- Familiar with building systems integration (MEP, structural) and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Comfortable working with both residential and commercial typologies depending on project scope.
Benefits:
- 3D printers, model tools, materials library — your hands will get to build, not just click.
- Team rituals: blueprint breakfasts, design walks, and yes, we talk about chairs a lot.
- You’ll collaborate with engineers, designers, and clients who value great architecture.
- We support licensure — paid ARE exams, study days, and mentorship.
- Paid competitions, conferences, and portfolio updates — your growth is our gain.
We’ll walk you through the architectural design process from concept to construction documents. You’ll learn how to annotate drawings, organize documentation, and support permit applications with accuracy. You’ll see how projects evolve — from napkin sketch to construction site — and your work will support each phase. We’ll support your growth with one-on-one mentorship and give you room to explore your own architectural style. We’ll help you sharpen your design intuition, technical accuracy, and visual storytelling skills. This is a great opportunity if you love imagining new spaces and want to understand how they’re brought to life. You’ll also walk away with a portfolio filled with real contributions to real projects. If you’re ready to learn how design becomes reality — we’re ready to welcome you to the process.
