Description:

We’re hiring a Public Transport Inspector to focus on the technical inspection of vehicles — perfect for someone who’s detail-oriented, mechanically curious, and committed to public safety standards. You’ll be responsible for monitoring transit vehicles and routes to confirm adherence to schedules, cleanliness standards, and safety regulations. You’ll patrol stations, terminals, and high-traffic routes, keeping watch for disorderly behavior, vandalism, or unauthorized access. You’ll interact with a wide range of riders, explaining fare policies calmly and professionally — even in tense situations. You’ll coordinate with overnight drivers, dispatchers, and transit security to report incidents or equipment failures immediately. You’ll observe passenger behavior during peak hours and report unsafe activity, suspicious items, or escalator hazards promptly. You’ll assist with verifying proper signage, accessibility routes, and digital information displays for accuracy and functionality. You’ll monitor fuel and fluid levels, tire condition, and battery health as part of preventive maintenance protocols. You’ll help ensure all vehicles adhere to city and national transport regulations before entering public service.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Use handheld devices or apps to verify digital tickets or log inspection data accurately.
  • Support crowd management and passenger flow during peak hours or special events.
  • Adapt quickly to changing environments, route changes, or emergency situations.
  • Work closely with drivers, controllers, and law enforcement to ensure smooth operations.
  • Perform uniform and behavior checks for on-duty transit personnel if required.

Preferred:

  • Enjoys being active, interacting with people, and ensuring a high standard of service for the community.
  • Comfortable interacting with the public in a respectful and assertive manner while maintaining authority.
  • Organized in tracking daily observations, submitting reports, and following up on complaints or compliance issues.
  • Physically fit and able to stand, walk, or travel frequently between transport vehicles and terminals.
  • Familiar with uniforms, ID badges, and professional appearance requirements when representing the agency.

Benefits:

  • Team-oriented work culture — you’ll be part of a team that values cooperation and mutual respect.
  • Clear expectations and responsibilities — you know what needs to be done to keep things running efficiently.
  • Flexible shifts — full-time, part-time, and rotating shifts available, so you can find the balance that works for you.
  • You’ll never be bored — every day brings new challenges and new passengers.
  • Health, dental, and retirement benefits — we care about your well-being, both physically and financially.

You’ll wear a uniform, carry ID, and represent the authority of the transit agency while remaining approachable and respectful. You’ll be responsible for submitting daily reports on citations issued, incidents handled, and unusual rider behavior. You’ll be expected to walk, stand, ride, and occasionally drive between transit points throughout your shift. You’ll work in all types of weather and interact with a wide range of passengers, from commuters to tourists to schoolchildren. You’ll wear issued gear and maintain a sharp, respectful appearance as a visible part of the metro operations team. You’ll contribute to monthly audits, reports, and internal reviews that help improve city-wide transport quality. You’ll work in indoor and outdoor conditions, sometimes during poor weather or with limited lighting. If you’re ready to keep public transport safe, timely, and respectful for everyone — we’re ready to train you to inspect with purpose. If you're ready to help keep public vehicles reliable, safe, and road-ready, we’re ready to train you as a transport inspector.
