Description:
We’re hiring a Baker Trainee who’s passionate about working with their hands, learning classic techniques, and starting each day with the smell of fresh bread and pastry. You’ll begin by learning how to scale large batches of dough, preparing ingredients accurately and efficiently while the city sleeps. You’ll be trained to follow house recipes carefully while still leaving room for creativity and personal touch. You’ll be trained to operate machinery like conveyor ovens, dough dividers, and automated proofers safely and efficiently. You’ll learn how to monitor proofing conditions, adjust humidity and temperature, and prepare trays for optimal rise. You’ll support early-morning prep, helping ensure fresh items are ready for opening by the time doors unlock. You’ll learn how to inspect products for weight, color, and doneness — flagging any issues for supervisors. You’ll help track what sells, note customer favorites, and restock hot items as needed throughout the day. You’ll be taught how to wrap, store, and present baked goods for the front counter or delivery.
Basic Qualifications:
- Operate ovens, mixers, proofers, and other bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
- Comply with allergen labeling and handle cross-contamination risks carefully.
- Bake with passion—people can taste the difference when it’s made with care.
- Take initiative to prep ahead, restock ingredients, or support team members.
- Coordinate with team members to divide tasks and keep the workflow smooth during busy hours.
Preferred:
- Able to follow recipes precisely, measure ingredients accurately, and adjust batch sizes as needed.
- Background or passion in baking, culinary arts, food production, or pastry design.
- Able to organize prep lists, rotate stock, and manage inventory for ingredients and baked goods.
- Experience preparing baked goods such as breads, pastries, cookies, cakes, or pies in a commercial or artisanal setting.
- Understands the shelf life and storage requirements for different baked goods.
Benefits:
- Customers ask for “who made this?” — and your name gets the praise.
- Your ideas matter — specials and menu changes start with you.
- Teamwork that feels like family — flour on aprons, jokes in the air.
- Free or discounted food — yes, you can bring home your masterpieces.
- Start your day before the world wakes up — and finish with sunlight left to enjoy.
You’ll be expected to clean mixers, counters, and floors thoroughly before the day team arrives. You’ll learn how to log batch quality, track flour usage, and prepare for the next night’s production. You’ll rotate between bread, pastry, and prep stations to explore the variety of tasks in a professional bakery. You’ll be shown how to store leftovers, rotate stock, and avoid waste without compromising freshness. You’ll be mentored by experienced bakers who will help you develop skills in both artisan craft and daily production. No experience is required — just curiosity, precision, and a respect for mindful eating. This internship is ideal for someone interested in food production, manufacturing, or large-scale culinary careers. If you're ready to build something beautiful while most of the world sleeps, we’re ready to train you overnight.
