Description:
We’re hiring a Seamstress Trainee to support garment production in our sewing factory — perfect for someone who enjoys repetition, structure, and building real technical skill in a team setting. You’ll assist in sewing, altering, and prepping costumes for stage, film, or television productions under the guidance of experienced costume designers. You’ll assist in steaming gowns, pinning trains, and prepping dresses for fittings or hand detailing. You’ll be trained to sew straight lines, curves, hems, darts, and zippers with increasing precision and control. You’ll support zipper replacements, invisible mending, and patching small holes in both everyday and formal wear. You’ll learn to press and steam garments properly after alterations so they look ready-to-wear when returned to customers. You’ll learn how to add custom elements like lace appliqués, bust cups, buttons, and corset back closures. You’ll assist with distressing or aging garments for realism — sanding, staining, or altering textures to match the director’s vision. You’ll rotate across workstations over time to expand your knowledge of garment construction from start to finish.
Basic Qualifications:
- Use pressing equipment to steam and iron finished pieces for a clean, professional look.
- Practice safe handling of needles, scissors, and cutting tools in a shared space.
- Follow patterns or design sketches to create new clothing items or custom pieces.
- Communicate clearly with clients about alteration timelines, design requests, and garment care.
- Perform fittings and make necessary adjustments based on client feedback and fabric behavior.
Preferred:
- Able to communicate with designers, tailors, or customers about custom orders or fitting requests.
- Thrives in focused, creative environments where skill and patience produce beautiful results.
- Pays strong attention to detail in stitching, seams, pattern alignment, and fabric consistency.
- Comfortable performing clothing alterations, repairs, or custom fittings for individual clients or production needs.
- Enjoys transforming fabric into functional or decorative clothing pieces.
Benefits:
- No corporate buzzwords — just honest work with real materials.
- Be part of preserving an art that fast fashion tries to forget.
- You're not “just a seamstress” — you're an artist with a needle.
- We honor old-school skill — your experience speaks louder than any degree.
- Learn new techniques, fabrics, and machines as you grow.
You’ll rotate between stitching, fitting, repairs, and backstage support during tech rehearsals or filming days. You’ll gain exposure to all kinds of clothing — from leather jackets to wedding gowns to school uniforms — learning how to handle each properly. You’ll gain insight into how bulk orders are fulfilled for uniforms, retail brands, or contract clients. You’ll receive regular feedback on your sewing technique, output rate, and how to stay sharp during repetitive tasks. You’ll get to see the before-and-after of every job, and take pride in bringing clothes back to life. No experience is required — just physical focus, attention to detail, and a willingness to follow structured workflows. This internship is ideal for someone interested in theatrical tailoring, costume design, or behind-the-scenes fashion for stage and screen. If you’re ready to learn the craft behind the clothes and stitch with purpose, we’re ready to train you at the sewing table. If you’re ready to work with lace, patience, and love, we’re ready to train you in the bridal atelier.
