Description:

We’re hiring a Translator Trainee to help with subtitles and video content — no experience required, just good listening skills, language precision, and an eye for timing. No prior experience is necessary — just a love for languages, an eye for detail, and a willingness to learn fast. We’ll teach you how to keep translations short, consistent, and intuitive — so they fit design without losing clarity. You’ll learn how to work with string tables, keys, and variable-based content like “You have 3 new messages. Expect to work with glossaries, CAT tools, and version tracking — learning how professional translators stay consistent and fast. We’ll show you how to handle placeholders, gender-neutral terms, plural logic, and platform-specific constraints. You’ll collaborate with designers and developers to keep meaning and UX intact across languages. You’ll also gain experience adjusting tone, catching cultural references, and translating jokes, idioms, and metaphors accurately. You’ll collaborate with editors, content creators, and voice-over teams to make sure translations land with the right intent.

Basic Qualifications:

• Handle different formats—documents, subtitles, websites, apps, or even casual chat conversations.
• Use CAT tools (like SDL Trados, MemoQ, or Smartcat) to streamline work and manage glossaries.
• Deliver polished translations, not first drafts—every word should feel intentional.
• Ask questions when context is missing—it’s better than guessing and getting it wrong.
• Maintain a clean, well-organized translation memory and termbase.

Preferred:

• Organized with file naming, version tracking, and clear documentation for each project.
• Fluency in at least two languages, with excellent grammar, spelling, and cultural understanding in both.
• Able to communicate with clients about unclear phrases, terminology, or missing context.
• Values precision, cultural sensitivity, and consistency in every translation project.
• Comfortable working with translation memories, glossaries, and client-specific terminology.
