Description:
We’re looking for a Game Writer who can turn mechanics into meaning, quests into emotions, and dialogue into unforgettable moments — someone who sees games not just as systems, but as stories you live inside. You’ll help create lore, cultures, timelines, and mythologies that give the game’s setting weight and texture. You’ll write witty, grounded, or intense dialogue — depending on the tone of the world — and make sure each character has a voice of their own. You’ll build branching scenes where every choice feels like it matters — because it *does*. You’ll collaborate closely with cinematic teams to write cutscenes that are dramatic, subtle, or haunting — and always purposeful. You’ll write believable, layered characters with goals, contradictions, and evolving relationships. You’ll work in dialogue trees, pacing charts, and narrative logic maps to ensure choices feel meaningful and emotionally real. We’ll rely on your ability to write with clarity across tones — whether it’s light banter, emotional confession, or philosophical tension. We’ll trust you to write with nuance: sometimes quiet, sometimes raw, sometimes poetic — but always human.
Basic Qualifications:
- Write item descriptions, loading screen tips, journal entries, and other flavor text that enhance immersion.
- Edit and refine scripts based on pacing, playtests, and team feedback.
- Stay current on storytelling trends in games, film, and interactive media.
- Collaborate closely with game designers, artists, and voice directors to ensure story and gameplay are seamlessly integrated.
- Be flexible and creative when rewriting for design changes or voiceover constraints.
Preferred:
- Able to maintain deadlines and version control while collaborating remotely or on-site.
- Familiar with worldbuilding principles, lore development, and creating immersive settings.
- Pays attention to narrative consistency, lore logic, and emotional tone across the entire player journey.
- Comfortable working in cross-functional teams with designers, artists, and audio professionals.
- Thrives in creative, systems-driven environments where story and gameplay work hand in hand.
Benefits:
- You’ll be part of storyboards, dialogue trees, and lorebooks from day one.
- We test story beats as seriously as mechanics — narrative is gameplay too.
- Mental health check-ins and days off when your plot twist hits *you* too hard.
- We build worlds together — your lore becomes part of the canon.
- Gamers in the team = your readers, your audience, your biggest fans.
We’ll rely on your ability to think modularly — building content that supports main plots, side quests, and dynamic interactions. You should be comfortable working in narrative engines or writing within technical pipelines (like Ink, Twine, or proprietary tools). This role is ideal for a writer who understands games are conversations with the player — and every line is an invitation. You’ll participate in writing room sessions, brainstorms, and internal pitches to evolve characters and narrative arcs. You’ll work with voiceover directors, localization teams, and editors to ensure quality, clarity, and consistency. You understand that the right pause, beat, or unspoken reaction can mean more than ten lines of text. If you think great writing means great pacing, great payoff, and great characters — this is your party. Let’s create stories players don’t just follow — but shape, question, and carry with them long after the credits roll.
