Description:

We’re hiring a Game Writer who can craft characters players will love, hate, and never forget — someone who understands that great storytelling in games is about choice, emotion, and consequence. You’ll be responsible for writing branching dialogue, questlines, and in-game narratives that adapt to player actions. You’ll write witty, grounded, or intense dialogue — depending on the tone of the world — and make sure each character has a voice of their own. We expect you to bring voice, humor, tension, and humanity to every line — even the ones hidden in optional dialogue. You’ll collaborate closely with cinematic teams to write cutscenes that are dramatic, subtle, or haunting — and always purposeful. You’ll build rich backstories, world histories, and quest arcs that support immersion and drive exploration. You’ll help define the tone of the game’s writing — from solemn and serious to strange and darkly funny — and make sure it stays consistent. You’ll collaborate with quest designers to make sure plot hooks, rewards, and player motivations feel earned and narratively grounded. You’ll review gameplay and provide story-driven context to make every mechanic feel like part of a larger world.

Basic Qualifications:

• Work across departments with empathy and patience—everyone’s solving a different piece of the puzzle.
• Help shape emotional player experiences through dialogue pacing, choice consequences, and environmental storytelling.
• Write stories players don’t just read or hear—but remember long after the game ends.
• Write immersive dialogue, character backstories, and narrative arcs that bring game worlds to life.
• Champion the player’s perspective—how will this moment feel, sound, or land emotionally?

Preferred:

• Can write character bios, item descriptions, quest text, and in-game journal entries with consistent voice and tone.
• Familiar with content pipelines and how written assets are implemented in game engines like Unity or Unreal.
• Values interactivity, emotional depth, and player engagement in every story decision.
• Comfortable working in cross-functional teams with designers, artists, and audio professionals.
• Proficient in using branching dialogue systems, narrative design tools, or scriptwriting software like Twine, Ink, or Celtx.
