Description:

We’re hiring a Veterinary Assistant to support our inpatient care and ICU — ideal for someone who stays calm under pressure and wants to help animals during their most vulnerable moments. You’ll assist with the daily care of birds, reptiles, amphibians, rodents, rabbits, and other exotic pets under veterinary supervision. You’ll help monitor vitals such as temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, hydration, and behavior throughout the day. You’ll help restrain animals during exams, vaccinations, or intake evaluations with a gentle, calming approach. You’ll assist with health assessments, logging weight, temperature, condition, and any visible injuries or stress signals. You’ll clean and disinfect boots, tools, and mobile gear between sites to avoid cross-contamination. You’ll assist with medical documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting findings during field visits or wellness rounds. You’ll help weigh animals, collect fecal or milk samples, and prepare test kits for on-the-go diagnostics. You’ll support spay/neuter prep and recovery, helping with pre-op cleaning and post-op monitoring of shelter animals. You’ll work in unpredictable settings — from muddy barns to open pastures — and adapt quickly when conditions change.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Stay calm and composed when animals are in pain, scared, or aggressive.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation protocols to protect both humans and animals.
  • Respond quickly in emergencies and support the team in triage situations.
  • Handle front desk duties including scheduling, answering phones, and processing payments when needed.
  • Educate pet owners on post-treatment care, feeding routines, and medication schedules.

Preferred:

  • Familiar with common veterinary terms, medications, and vaccine schedules.
  • Able to communicate clearly with pet owners about post-care instructions, appointments, or check-in procedures.
  • Pays attention to animal behavior, signs of distress, or changes in condition and reports them promptly.
  • Familiar with inventory control, restocking supplies, and ordering medications or lab kits.
  • Experience assisting veterinarians or working with animals in clinics, shelters, farms, or grooming settings.

Benefits:

  • Opportunities to learn — expand your knowledge of animal care, medical procedures, and veterinary practices.
  • Work in a compassionate and supportive environment — we understand the emotional demands of the role and offer a caring workplace.
  • Employee discounts on pet care products and services — take care of your own pets with our support.
  • Ongoing training — stay up-to-date with the latest veterinary care and techniques.
  • Recognition for your hard work — your contributions help improve animal lives, and that’s something we celebrate.

You’ll communicate with pet owners politely, answering questions or providing care instructions after visits. You’ll manage laundry, restock supplies, and keep the clinic clean, organized, and ready for the next patient. You’ll receive mentorship on livestock handling, field safety, and how to stay efficient without sacrificing animal welfare. You’ll be expected to maintain strict infection control standards to protect both patients and other animals. No experience is required — just strength, stamina, and a deep respect for animals and the people who care for them. You’ll be part of a team that values compassion, communication, and keeping animals as comfortable as possible. If you're ready to work in the real world — one hoofprint at a time — we’re ready to train you out in the field. If you’re ready to care for animals when they need it most, we’re ready to train you in veterinary inpatient support. If you’re ready to clean kennels, comfort pets, and help them heal, we’re ready to welcome you into our clinic family.
